FROM PASSOVER TO PENTECOST
Bishop Sherman J. Butler, Sr.

 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away:
for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you;
but if I depart, I will send him unto you.” (John 16:7, KJV).

Jesus went away so that the COMFORTER (i.e., Holy Ghost) would come (John 16:7, 14:26, Acts 1:5-8, Acts 2:1-4). There are three that bear record in heaven: The Father, The Word (Son), and the Holy Ghost. The Comforter is the Holy Ghost not “Holy Spirit”. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of the LORD (Psalm 51:11, KJV).

Deuteronomy 16:16 (KJV) instructs us to Keep THREE Feast Days (i.e., Passover, Pentecost, and Ingathering (“Feast of Tabernacles”):  Three times in a year shall all thy males appear before the Lord thy God in the place which he shall choose; in the feast of unleavened bread, and in the feast of weeks, and in the feast of tabernacles: and they shall not appear before the Lord empty:” Other references for the “THREE TIMES IN A YEAR” Feast Days are Exodus 23:17, 2 Chronicles 8:13.

WE KEEP THE THREE FEAST DAYS (As followers of CHRIST) because Jesus Kept them:
PASSOVER (1 Corinthians 5:7), PENTECOST (Luke 24:49, Acts 1:5-8, Acts 2:1-4), and INGATHERING/FEAST OF TABERNACLES (John 7:2 and 37). No more need for LAMB’S BLOOD on the door post because the BLOOD OF CHRIST WAS SACRIFICED FOR US (1 Corinthians 5:7, Hebrews 9: 11-14). We celebrate on ONE DAY (PASSOVER) from morning to 3pm: as CHRIST OUR PASSOVER went from judgement to death.

LET US GET AN UNDERSTANDING. Know better and do better:
Proverbs 4:7 (KJV): “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.

James 4:17 (KJV), “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

From Passover to Pentecost:
These are the feasts of the Lord, even holy convocations, which ye shall proclaim in their seasons. In the fourteenth day of the first month at even is the Lord‘s PASSOVER.
(Leviticus 23:4-5, KJV). In Leviticus 23, the OLD TESTAMENT PASSOVER celebrated PASSOVER  seven days (after the first). So, we know JESUS IS OUR PASSOVER. BUT if you’re doing the OLD TESTAMENT PASSOVER – then why not do all the OLD TESTAMENT rituals?

We count SEVEN SABBATHS from Passover to Pentecost. “And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:” (Leviticus 23:15, KJV).
